This is our vacuum bagger. It is an old refrigerator compressor and pulls a very good vacuum. Universal hovercrafts says put a bathroom scale in the bag and to keep it between 50 and 150 lbs. When we first tested it it would pull Over 300lbs so we made something to control the pressure. it is a "T" with a plastic hose facit screwed onto the top of it. Bob windt says that it makes it 2-3 times stronger when you use a vacuum bag.

We have now desided that we are going to no longer vacuum bag our rudders because we always get a few wrinkles in the plastic so we think that it is more work than it is worth.


We tried to use the vacuum pump from the refrigerator to vacuum bag the hull but it didn't seem to have the power to get a good vacuum. So we started using a vacuum sweeper and it works very good.


My mom didn't like the idea of use using here vacuum sweeper to do our vacuum bagging so we bought an old Kirby at a garage sale. With a few modifications it makes a perfect vacuum pump. Go back to my main UH-18sp page.
