This is one on the rudders with a drawing of them I did in turbo cad and a rudder template.
To get the rudders shaped we used a dado blade in our table saw and cut it as close to the shape as we could and then sanded them down with a long sanding block. Here is what it looks like after we got done cutting it with the dado blade.
Here are the two end templates for the rudders and elevator. We hot glued them on the ends and ran the sanding block between them to get the rudders at the correct shape.
Here is the sanding block we used it has dry wall sanding screen on it. The sanding screen is the best sand paper we found to sand foam. It sands it very fast and last a lot longer than normal sand paper.
Here is a rudder with one side completely sanded.
Here is one of the stationary rudder panels.
Here is one of the stationary rudder panels completly sanded.
Now it just needs to be fiberglassed.
Here is the elevator it is 2'x8'. We also used the dado blade on this. Here you can see the 2 peices of wood we taped on the back to keep it from bending to much.
Here it is after we cut it on the table saw.
