Now we started on the battery box. First we took our jig saw and cut around the area that we wanted to take out for the batter box. Then we pryed off the plywood and peeled out 3" of foam.
Then we took the plywood from the deck and made it the bottom. And we made plywood walls for the box. We made them a little taller than the top of the hull so that water couldn't run in the battery box.
Here is the plywood that is going to cover the nose section with the hole cut for the battery box and the frame made for the door.
Theres the door. We dadoed the frame the thinkness of the gasket we are using so that the door would sit even with the other plywood.
Heres the dor epoxyed on and the inside of this part of the noise primered since we wont be able to get back in there very easily to do it latter.
Next I smoothed out the plywood to foam transistion with some light weight spackle. Then we glassed it on.
Here we have our door put on. We put 8 screw-in threads in the frame then we got some screws to hold the door down.
Here is the battery we are going to be using. This battery weights about 30lbs.
